Another oil pipeline explosion averted in Aboru, Agbado/Okeodo LCDA

The Commander of NSCDC , Malik Ola Ojetola led his men to avert an oil in , Agbado/Okeodo LCDA…

According to him, “a distress call was received from some community development associations (CDAs) in that area on the 5th of April, 2020 at about 0630hrs that PMS gushing was out of oil pipeline at Ola mummy – Aboru, a boundary between Agbado/ Oke Odo LCDA and Mosan okunola LCDA.

On getting to the spot, it was discovered that the fuel was not gushing out directly from NNPC pipeline but a location adjacent and about 50ft from NNPC pipeline.

A call was put through to NNPC maintenance team, the team arrived at about 1015hrs.
Fortunately, the galvanized pipe attached to the pipeline was discovered and removed from oil pipeline pegged by NNPC engineers.

The attached galvanized pipe which is about 60ft long was removed. But it was observed that the attached galvanized pipe ruptured at about 50ft distance from the NNPC pipeline.

The attached galvanized pipe has a tap like valve permanently opened where it was connected to the pipeline.
The other end of the attached pipe also has tap valve normally use to open and close the flow of the fuel.

Though, firefighters from Lagos state fire service and Lagos state emergency management agency later joined my team on ground to avert explosion and prevent any casualty.

The maintenance work was completed around 1412hrs.

Herein are the pictorial evidence of the vandalization.
