An organization known as Coalition Against Corruption and Bad Governance (CACOBAG) in press release sent to Dailynewscover states that the group is yet to come to term with the motives of the Speaker of House of Representatives Rt. (Hon) Femi Gbajabiamilaand the house on the proposed bill that will make it mandatory for Nigerians to be vaccinated.
The chairman of the organization Comrade Raheem revealed that What baffles them as an organisation is the accelerated hearing being given to the bill.
He say “Can we say that Femi Gbajabiamila whose interest is to perpetuate himself in the House of Representatives does not understand what rudiment of legislature entails despite serving his fifth term, twenty years as a legislator ?
It’s shocking that people elected by their constituents believe they are superior to the electorate that elected them. If not why arrogating power to pass a bill into law without input from the people.
It’s a fallacy and their imagination that they are superior. The people are their employers and may at anytime dispense with their services in the laid down procedures stated in the statutory books.
If they are superior ,they ought to have elected themselves.
What are they afraid of and what is the essence of their pessimism that Nigerians may reject the bill if allowed to scrutinise and interrogate the bill?
CACOBAG is an organisation that stands firm against any act of corruption, injustice bad governance/bad policies.
We are general that is not afraid of the warfront in defence of the people and betterment of the country.
We can not forget in a hurry the clauses in National Health Act which negate the practice and ethics of medical profession.
Should the House of Representatives goes ahead to debate the bill without a public hearing,we will have no alternative than to head for the court of law to halt the anti people bill being sponsored by Mr Gbajabiamila, the speaker.
The speaker being the sponsor of the bill might be the reason why some legislators are not against the bill.
It must be made clear that any bill that has to do with the lives and well-being of Nigerians must be thoroughly debated and input of the people is germane.
Party loyalty or allegiance might be done with other bills but not a bill that toys with the lives of Nigerians.
May we use this medium to call on all pro people legislators , regardless of political party affiliation,in the House of Reps to stand against this bill.
Should the House of Reps proceed further on the bill without a public hearing, the court shall be the last resort to resolve the matter.
Nigeria belongs to all of us and nobody or group of persons should arrogate to themselves, the power to do anything without interrogation.
CACOBAG will fight this battle with all legitimate means at our disposal”.
