RAHEEM STERLING’S strike proved the difference as Man City saw off Arsenal 1-0 at the Etihad.
The England star – who withdrew from Three Lions duty through injury – drilled home Phil Foden’s saved shot in the 23rd minute.
In his last five top flight games against Arsenal, Sterling has been directly involved in six goals.
Arsenal, who brought new signing Thomas Partey on with eight minutes to go, came close to equalising through second-half free-kicks from David Luiz and Nicolas Pepe.
