Organisers of the maiden Dr. D.K Olukoya Ibile Football Cup have promised to thrill fans of grassroots soccer with exciting action when the competition holds from May 16 to 22 at the Legacy Pitch of the National Stadium, Lagos.
Registration of the 16 non-league clubs featuring in the competition ended yesterday at the Teslim Balogun Stadium Lagos and according to the chairperson of the organising committee, Gbajumo Afolashade Muyinatu, highly-rated referees will officiate all games in a secure and family-friendly atmosphere.
While applauding Dr. Olukoya for boosting youth football development in the country, Muyinatu said the eventual champion would earn N200, 000, while first and second runners up will get N150,000 and N50,000 respectively.
Muyinatu added that all semifinal clubs would be fully kitted to highlight the decency the sponsor is noted for.
The chairman of the Lagos State Football and Other Sports Supporters Club added that the organisers will not compromise on discipline, hence they have set aside prizes for best-behaved team, amongst others
