THE HAUNTING of Bly Manor is full of twists and turns and some of them are serious “headf**ks” – and that’s coming from T’Nia Miller who stars as Hannah Grose.
The actress has opened up about the heart-in-your-mouth moment that it all makes sense and the tragic fate of the housekeeper is finally revealed.
Be warned, spoilers are ahead if you haven’t finished bingeing the scare-inducing series.
Actress T’Nia Miller plays housekeeper Hannah Grose in a show but it was even a shock to her when she found out her character was actually dead – and she was playing a ghost.
However, unlike the other spirits who can only be glimpsed in the shadows, Hannah stays in full sight of the living but does give clues as to her mortality.
Speaking to Digital Spy, T’Nia revealed she had no idea that Hannah was dead from the very beginning.
After series creator Mike Flanagan continued to ask her if she’d read the script for episode five, she said she was “blown away” by that “bloody bonkers” reveal.
T’Nia revealed she thought:“Damn! Sh*t! This is fun!”
But then reality sunk in and the actress thought, “how the f**k do I play a ghost? I can’t draw from real-life experience, you know?”
During the show viewers watch as the ghosts ‘dream hop’ through different parts of their lives, not always realising that they’re even doing it.
These jumps became quite confusing for many viewers but it all becomes clear in episode five, titled: The Altar of the Dead.
Discussing the twist, T’Nia said: “It’s a head-f**k. You don’t shoot in order anyway, and then to not be shooting in order, and not in order? It was super-complicated, but we had wonderful scripties. And our director (Liam Gavin), who is just methodical, was really on it.”
T’Nia revealed that with the help of Mike and the script team, they plotted a timeline to help her keep track of Hannah’s journey.

The actress also revealed that it was her character’s denial of the situation and the varying levels of disorientation that came along which posed an even greater challenge.
She added: “It was about trying to find the balance of the two, depending on the scene, and depending on how far in her denial Hannah is. Some of the scenes where she’s completely disorientated, that’s just T’Nia completely disorientated.
“That’s how I found her, actually! We were doing the kitchen scene in episode one. So I pour Owen a cup of tea, and then I popped the teapot on the saucer. I looked at it for a good while, and went, ‘That’s not right. Teapots don’t belong on saucers.’ So I put it down, and then placed the cup. But really slowly, I was like, ‘Ah, that’s it! That’s Hannah!’”
The Haunting of Bly Manor is available to stream on Netflix now.
