WETHERSPOONS has been accused of “stuffing Christmas” by shunning festive roasts for burgers and pizza.
The pub chain has decided not to serve turkey with all the trimmings at its 900 UK boozers this year.
Instead, it has brie and bacon burgers and chicken and stuffing paninis on its festive menu.
There are also pigs in blankets and a brie pizza, plus a gingerbread muffin instead of Christmas pud. One Wetherspoons worker among the 43,000 who used to enjoy a free Christmas dinner said: “They’ve basically said, ‘Stuff Christmas’.
“Our customers aren’t going to like it. Punters tell us that nothing beats a proper Christmas dinner.”
Regular Derek Simpson, 56, from Hove, East Sussex, said: “It’s all a bit ‘Bah, humbug’. What’s got into them?

“Most of their customers are working class. Not many brickies are going to prefer a posh panini over a roast.”
JD Wetherspoon, which axed Sunday roasts in 2016 for “commercial reasons”, hinted Christmas dinners may return. A spokesman said: “Never say never, but not this year.”
