Moniepoint Inc., Africa’s leading digital financial services provider, has opened applications for the second cohort of its flagship DreamDevs initiative, a transformative programme aimed at bridging Africa’s tech talent gap by equipping recent graduates with industry-ready skills and hands-on experience.
Open to graduates across Nigeria, DreamDevs is structured as a nationwide talent search for the next generation of world-class engineers. Each year, 20 high-potential candidates are selected for an intensive boot camp, with top performers advancing into internship and full-time roles at Moniepoint. The inaugural cohort resulted in four hires, comprising three interns and one full-time engineer, underscoring the programme’s effectiveness as a high-impact talent pipeline.
The initiative targets graduates in technology, computer science, engineering, and related disciplines with foundational knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Participants undergo a rigorous nine-week boot camp featuring hands-on training led by experienced software engineers. Outstanding candidates will secure six-month internship placements at Moniepoint, with the possibility of transitioning into full-time roles based on performance.
Commenting on the initiative, Felix Ike, Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer at Moniepoint Inc., said the success of the first cohort reaffirmed the company’s belief in Africa’s young tech talent. He noted that the organisation is increasing its commitment this year by targeting the conversion of half of the participants into full-time employees. According to him, DreamDevs is focused on building sustainable career pathways that support the growth of Africa’s digital economy.
DreamDevs aligns with Moniepoint’s broader vision of using technology to power dreams and engineer financial happiness across Africa. It complements the company’s existing talent development programmes, including HatchDev, a collaboration with NITHub, University of Lagos, which produces about 500 specialised developers annually in software engineering, intelligent systems, and IoT/embedded systems. It also builds on Moniepoint’s Women-in-Tech initiative, now in its fifth year, and aligns with the Federal Government’s 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) programme, for which Moniepoint is a key sponsor. While the 3MTT programme focuses on large-scale technical skills training nationwide, DreamDevs offers a specialised pathway that guides graduates from foundational training through to employment, creating a holistic talent development ecosystem.
Ike further stated that the company is proud to support the government’s goal of building three million technical talents while also creating direct employment opportunities through initiatives like DreamDevs. He added that by investing in young people and providing them with practical experience, product development opportunities, and startup incubation support, Moniepoint is contributing to sustainable economic growth across the continent.
Sharing his experience, Victor Adepoju, a member of the first cohort and now a Backend Engineer at Moniepoint, described the programme as well-structured and impactful. He said the training covered a wide range of topics, including cloud technologies such as Google Cloud Platform, and also emphasised essential soft skills like planning, organisation, and prioritisation, which have been invaluable in his daily work.
Selection into the programme will be based on technical aptitude, learning potential, and alignment with Moniepoint’s values of innovation and excellence. Interested and qualified recent graduates are encouraged to apply before the January 20 deadline via the official portal at dreamdevs.moniepoint.com.
