Sunday Igboho, a Yoruba Nation agitator, is set to return to Nigeria after years in self-exile, following interventions by prominent Yoruba traditional rulers.
His spokesperson said the Olubadan of Ibadanland and the Ooni of Ife played key roles in securing his clearance, with authorities no longer seeking him, though no return date has been fixed.
Igboho had complained about his prolonged exile and restrictions placed on him after being declared wanted under the Buhari administration. His camp thanked President Bola Tinubu, Yoruba monarchs, and supporters for their backing.
He rose to prominence in 2021 over his activism on Yoruba security issues, which led to a deadly SSS raid on his Ibadan home, his flight to Benin Republic, arrest in Cotonou, and nearly two years of detention before his release in 2022.
