2022 World Cup: Three countries qualify for Round of 16

Three countries have already booked their spots in the Round of 16 of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

They are: France, Brazil and Portugal.

Portugal were the latest team to qualify, thanks to a 2-0 victory over Uruguay on Monday.

Bruno Fernandes netted twice as Fernandes Santos’ men reached six points to stay top of Group H.

It was the third time at a World Cup that Portugal won two successive group-stage fixtures.

In the earlier game, Brazil beat Switzerland 1-0, thanks to a brilliant Casemiro finish.

The Selecao had won 2-0 against Serbia in their opening fixture.

France are also through, thanks to victories against Australia and Denmark.
