The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, on Wednesday, distributed sensitive materials to its offices in all the 18 local government areas of Ondo State, ahead of Saturday elections.

NAN reported that the distribution took place at the premises of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Akure, in the presence of security agents.

Acting Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in the state, Mr Oyekola Oyelami, said that the distribution was part of the process of the forthcoming general elections in the state.

Oyelami, who said that the Bimodal Voters Accreditation System (BVAS) devices were also distributed, explained that the materials would be escorted to the various local governments by security agents.

According to him, the commission has enough fuel and vehicles to take the materials to the council areas across the state.

“All the materials, including the result sheets, have been received and assembled according to local governments. We have enough fuel and vehicles to take the materials to the 18 local government areas of the state. As we speak now, our electoral officers are at the local government headquarters to receive the materials. So far so good, we are ready to go ahead with the election, come Feb. 25,” he said.

Chairman of the Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) in the state, Prince Adesanya Olaoluwa, commended INEC for the distribution process, saying it showed the commission’s seriousness toward the election.
