The House of Representatives member, Chinedu Ogah, representing Ikwo/Ezza South Federal Constituency in the National Assembly at the weekend said that only the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Ahmed Tinubu has the capacity to win the forthcoming general election.

Ogah avowed that the South East geopolitical zone stands a greater chance to benefit from Tinubu’s administration if elected as the President of Nigeria come in the 2023 general election.

He made this known while speaking to journalists in Abakaliki, at the ongoing media parley, organized by the Correspondent Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists(NUJ) in the state.

Ogah, who is seeking reelection on the platform of APC, noted further that the Tinubu/Shettima ticket (Muslim-Muslim ticket) was the right choice for the South-East zone.

He noted that only the Tinubu/Shettima ticket can win the election convincingly in the North and South West, because of the antecedents of the two personalities who he said have built many people in the regions and other parts of the country.

According to him: “The greater number of those that have their voter’s card in the state are all APC members. They will vote APC across boards because 90 per cent of Ebonyi people are APC. If you see those that are complaining in the APC, they don’t have voter’s cards. The candidates we have in APC both at the national and state levels are very credible.”

He said further: “When you look at Ahmed Tinubu’s antecedents, you will see many people he has built and they cut across the country, likewise Shettima. Compare these personalities with other candidates of various political parties and you will discover that the Tinubu/Shettima ticket is the right choice especially for the Igbo because they will benefit a lot under the Tinubu administration as the President of the country. Igbo should connect to the centre, they should connect to national politics and shun ethnicity.”

Calling on Igbo to back a candidate that can deliver dividends of democracy to the South East, he said: “Let us look at who can deliver democracy dividends for us. If dividends of democracy are coming, even if it is through a Muslim-Muslim ticket, everybody will be okay. Yes, the truth of the matter is that politics is about the masses, it is about the number.”

Downplaying the hullabaloo over the Muslim-Muslim ticket, he said: “What we should be talking about is, do these people have the interest of Nigerians at heart, which they have. They have the interest of Nigeria [at heart] because they want Nigeria’s stability, they want to create job opportunities for the people.”
