$64.8m disbursed to private companies for Nigeria Electrification Project – REA

The Federal Government has disbursed $64.8million to private sector partners to execute Nigeria Electrification Project, NEP.
In a statement made available to DAILY POST on Monday, the Rural Electrification Agency, REA, said the NEP programme, funded by a $350 million World Bank loan and $200 million loan from the African Development Bank, AfDB, had provided electricity to millions of Nigerians.
REA Managing Director, Engr. Ahmad Salihijo Ahmad said that the programme provides off-grid reliable, clean electricity supply to 705,000 households, 90,000 micro, small and medium enterprises, 100 isolation and treatment centres and 400 primary healthcare centres in unserved and underserved areas of the country.
NEP programme Lead, Anita Otubu reiterated that the project has helped provide electricity to the unserved and underserved communities across Nigeria.
