73 ISWAP terrorists, families surrender to troops in Borno
Following renewed military onslaughts by troops of Sector 1, Operation Hadin Kai, 73 ISWAP terrorists, including their family members, reportedly surrendered their weapons to the Nigerian Army in Borno State.
It was gathered that 42 of the insurgents and their family members, comprising four males, 10 females, and 28 children, from Bula Bello, Zaramari and Garno villages, surrendered to troops of 202 Battalion of 21 Armoured Brigade Bama on May 31, 2023.
DAILY POST learnt that two males, seven females, and nine children from Ngauri, Siraja and Nbellana villages surrendered to troops of 152 Battalion.
One female and 13 children from Bula Ashe, Guraba, and Nemaila villages surrendered to troops of 151 Battalion.
Additionally, nine ISWAP members, two adult females, and six children from Ukuba surrendered to troops of 26 Task Force Brigade Garrison in Gwoza.
Authorities said profiling of the surrendered terrorists is ongoing, after which the individuals will be handed over to the appropriate agencies for further handling.
Meanwhile, the troops of 222 Battalion neutralised one Boko Haram terrorist during a night patrol in the Waroba general area.
The operation was designed to deny the insurgents any freedom of action.
