The All Progressives Congress (APC) consensus governorship candidate in Ogun State, Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, on Tuesday held a series of high-level consultations with party leaders and former aspirants in Abeokuta as part of efforts to consolidate unity ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Adeola, popularly known as Yayi and currently representing Ogun West in the National Assembly, met with fellow aspirant Iyabo Obasanjo and her supporters, describing the engagement as a show of appreciation for her early backing of his candidacy.

The meeting, declared open by former Deputy Governor of Ogun State, Salmot Badru, drew political associates and supporters of Obasanjo. Adeola commended the former senator for her contributions to governance, noting that her record in office remains widely respected.

He assured stakeholders of an inclusive campaign and governance approach, pledging that no group would be sidelined if elected.

“I am here to thank my sister and to assure her that we will work together. I am ready to align with her vision to move Ogun State forward,” Adeola said.

In a related development, Adeola also met with former Minister and diplomat Sharafa Tunji Ishola, who declared his full support for the APC consensus candidate.

Ishola, a former governorship aspirant, said his decision was guided by party discipline and the need to uphold the supremacy of the APC.

“We are APC members, and we are bound by the decision of the party,” he said, adding that the consensus arrangement reflected a broad agreement among key stakeholders.

He noted that the alignment of prominent political figures, including Governor Dapo Abiodun, former governors Olusegun Osoba, Ibikunle Amosun and Gbenga Daniel, lent credibility to the process.

“What consensus can be greater than one that brings together past and present governors of the state?” Ishola said.

He further announced that all political groups under his leadership had adopted Adeola as their preferred candidate, pledging loyalty and cooperation.

Responding, Adeola expressed appreciation for Ishola’s support, describing their engagements as productive and rooted in mutual respect.

He also paid a courtesy visit to APC chieftain, Chief Joju Fadairo, who offered prayers and endorsed his candidacy.

Speaking after the meetings, Adeola reiterated the commitment of party stakeholders to unity and electoral success.

“Ambassador Sharafa Ishola, Senator Iyabo Obasanjo, and I have agreed to work together to deliver victory for the APC in the 2027 general elections,” he said.

Political observers say the consultations reflect a growing effort within the Ogun APC to foster cohesion, noting that Adeola’s outreach to former rivals signals a strategic move to strengthen party unity ahead of the governorship poll.
