Akpabio Vs Natasha: Sexual Harassment and Burden of Prove in Nigeria Context
To accuse a male of sexual harassment is easy. To prove it in a country like Nigeria is a daunting task. The Nigerian Senate has only four female members. Women don’t support each other in sexual harassment cases. The men stick together. You can see this pattern already in this Akpabio/Natasha case.
What exactly is sexual harassment in the Nigerian context? I can’t hold brief for any man. We men misbehave a lot. That’s the truth. Some women could also be mischievous.
The two parties, in this case, are already digging in. It is a very bad case for both. Akpabio will never be the case again. How many of you men will trust your wives with Akpabio? That’s my point. In a more civilized society, Akpabio’s political career would have ended. Not in Nigeria.
As for Natasha, thank goodness she is married to a supportive husband. But who knows?
Both parties are in a hole. The law of the hole should apply here. NOW.
