Akwa Ibom’s ‘Happy Hour’ not promotion of revelry – Senator Ekong Sampson

The Senator-elect for Akwa Ibom South Senatorial District, Ekong Sampson has explained that the concept of ‘Happy Hour’ as propounded by the state’s governor-elect, Umo Eno, was meant to engender hard work and a deserving rest, not to promote revelry as erroneously interpreted in sections of the media.

Ever since Governor-elect Eno mooted the idea of ‘Happy Hour’ during a media interview, many people misrepresented it as the period to drink alcohol and make merry at weekend.

Speaking on Tuesday while cutting the tape to commission Posh Events and Party, a multifaceted event planning outfit, Sampson said the concept of ‘Happy Hour’ was actually a call for people to arise and do something, after which they can spare some time to unwind, as done in most developed societies.

According to him: “Happy Hour simply means imbibing the philosophy of hard work and then, a deserving rest. It’s truly for those who work hard.”
