Arteta reveals conversation with Lisandro Martinez after Arsenal lost 2-0 to Man Utd

Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta has revealed details of his chat with Manchester United defender, Lisandro Martinez after their pre-season friendly last week.

The Red Devils won 2-0 thanks to first half goals from Bruno Fernandes and Jadon Sancho.

Arsenal fans were left furious by the robust nature of Martinez’s performance which culminated in one particularly over zealous challenge on Bukayo Saka.

After the game, Arteta was spotted having a conversation with Martinez, which he insists had nothing to do with the defender’s reckless challenge on Saka.

“I was just happy to see him over there. I know him personally. I was happy to see him back after the injury and that’s it, it is about the sport.

“It’s about the people we know and we wished each other good luck for the season and that’s it. It was a really good competitive game for us,” Arteta said.
