Benue: PDP Reps aspirant, Unongo withdraws case against Bob Tyough

Former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) aspirant for the Kwande/Ushongo Federal Constituency in Benue State, Mr Thomas Tyolumun Unongo has withdrawn his case against Hon. Bob Tyough, the winner of the primary election.

DAILY POST gathered that Unongo’s move to withdraw the case followed several appeals by the Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, former President of the Senate, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki and some other national leaders of the party.

Unongo had filed the suit at the Federal High Court, Makurdi, seeking to be declared winner of the party’s primary election which brought Hon. Tyough as the flagbearer.

When the case resumed on Thursday, November 10th, 2022, counsel to Unongo, K.C Ikonne, informed the court that Mr Unongo had requested to discontinue the suit.

He said both parties had resolved to settle their dispute out of court.

Counsel to PDP, Barrister Clement Mue, consented to Ikonne’s submission.

Mue informed the court that the party had deployed its internal dispute resolution mechanism to settle the dispute between the two members of the party.

Orseer Agena, counsel to Hon. Tyough, confirmed Ikonne and Mue’s submission.

After listening to both parties, the presiding judge, Justice Abdul Dogo dismissed the case and awarded no cost to any of the parties.
