Boke’s SDG Hero Project Reaches over 6,500+ Students Across 20 Schools in Nigeria

The 2026 edition of the SDG Hero Project has reached an estimated 19,673 students across 20 schools in Lagos, Ogun State and Ibadan, with approximately 1,043 students actively participating in workshops and related programme activities. The initiative introduces young people to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), helping them understand global challenges and explore practical ways to contribute to a more sustainable future.

Boke Technology Co. Ltd., a global leader in digital entertainment, launched the SDG Hero Project in Nigeria to empower students to engage with the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This innovative corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative, powered by Boke’s pioneering Game+ model, uses an engaging board game to inspire young people to explore global challenges and develop solutions for a more sustainable future.

In Nigeria, the project is implemented in collaboration with Bracken Media Solutions and Adapted Nest, a non-governmental organisation (NGO), supporting programme delivery and engagement with participating schools and stakeholders.

During the 2026 implementation, students participated in interactive gameplay, facilitated workshops and practical activities, including liquid soap making and tie-dye. These sessions connected sustainability education with creativity, practical skills and locally relevant solutions.

The programme engaged 50 volunteers and deployed 150 SDG Hero game boxes across participating schools. Students responded enthusiastically, with some expressing a desire for the team to return. The project also secured an endorsement from the Ministry of Education, strengthening institutional support for sustainability education.

Beyond gameplay, students took part in practical activities, including liquid soap making and tie-dye, which encouraged creativity, hands-on learning and the development of practical skills. These activities helped connect sustainability concepts with experiences students could relate to beyond the classroom.

Yuqin Lin, International Director of Boke’s SDG Hero Project, said the initiative aims to inspire young people to become active contributors to global change.

“SDG Hero goes beyond gaming; it is about inspiring young people to become active contributors to global change. By combining the appeal of games with meaningful social impact, we hope to equip the next generation with the knowledge and motivation to help build a more sustainable world,” Lin said.

Beyond Nigeria, SDG Hero is working across regions including Africa and Southeast Asia to develop educational resources that reflect local needs, including through engagement with grassroots non-governmental organisations. Boke’s wider sustainability efforts include collaboration with organisations such as UNESCO and the UN Global Compact, reflecting its commitment to advancing grassroots sustainability through education.

Mahmood Oyewo, Managing Director of Bracken Media Solutions, highlighted the role of creativity in helping young people understand and respond to global challenges.

“At Bracken, we believe creativity can inspire lasting change. Our partnership with Boke on SDG Hero gives us the opportunity to help young people understand global challenges and recognise their potential to make a difference. We remain committed to empowering the next generation and sharing stories that create meaningful impact,” Mahmood said.

The 2026 implementation builds on the project’s 2025 engagement, when SDG Hero reached 5,003 students across 15 schools. The reported reach of 19,673 students this year represents a substantial expansion, extending the programme across more schools and locations.

Through game-based learning, practical activities and collaboration with schools and stakeholders, SDG Hero continues to make sustainability education more engaging and accessible, encouraging young people to see themselves as contributors to a more sustainable future.
