Burna Boy visits UN building before New York show

Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, a Grammy-winning Nigerian singer, paid a visit to the United Nations Headquarters in New York ahead of his sold-out show at Madison Square Garden in the same city.

During the visit, Burna Boy, accompanied by his mother and manager, Bose Ogulu, met with the UN Deputy Secretary-General, Nigeria’s Amina Mohammed.

On Thursday morning, Mohammed posted a photo of the visit to her Twitter page, where she praised the singer for inspiring young people with his talent.

She wrote, “I had the opportunity to welcome my compatriot @burnaboy here at the @UN HQ.

“Burna continues to inspire young people around the world with his amazing talents.”

The singer also posted clips of the visit to his Instagram story.

Burna Boy is the first African artist to sell out New York’s popular event centre.

Burna Boy’s last album, Twice As Tall, which was released in August 2020, set a new record and earned the singer his first Grammy award.

The singer was named the first African artist to reach 200 million streams on the music streaming platform Boomplay in February.
