Businesswoman regains freedom from abductors after seven days

A woman abducted at gunpoint in Rivers State has regained her freedom after spending almost seven days in captivity. The woman, identified as Gloria Rowland, was released over the weekend.

She was abducted at gunpoint from her shop along Akar Road in Rumuolumeni community, Obio-Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, by persons who pretended to buy goods from her shop.

Her kidnappers had first contacted the family members to demand over N15 million, but the family members agreed to pay the sum of N200,000, a sum that did not go down well with the criminals. Her family eventually paid over N500,000 to secure her release, DAILY POST learnt.
