Bayelsa Queens head coach, Domo Okara, says the team is ready to claim the title at the 2022 CAF Women’s Champions League.

The Restoration Girls will be competing in the competition for the first after emerging winners at the WAFU B Championship early this year.

Rivers United participated in the inaugural edition of the competition last year but the Port Harcourt club failed to make it beyond the group stage.

Okaro, who was recently confirmed as the head coach of the side, is aiming to continue his fairytale run in the dugout.

“I feel delighted to be competing with the best clubs in Africa, we are going to give our best and learn as well,” the 45-year-old tactician told CAFOnline.com.

“It means a lot for us honestly, we were delighted to compete in a tournament of that magnitude, and as WAFU B winners as well, it was a great feeling.

“Our target is to win CAF Women’s Champions League trophy in Morocco. I know it’s going to be very difficult, but we promise to give our best.”

The Nigerian champions will face off with holders Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa in their first game on Sunday at the Stade Grande de Marrakech.

Okaro’s side will face TP Mazembe of Congo Democratic Republic three days later also in Marrakech.

They will then round up their group stage campaign against Egypt’s Wadi Degla at the Stade Prince Heritier, Rabat on November 6.
