The Federal High Court in Abuja has granted bail to the National President of Miyetti Allah Kauta Hore, Bello Bodejo, in the sum of N2 billion over allegations of involvement in a $2.63 million money laundering case.
Justice Inyang Ekwo, who delivered the ruling on Monday, ordered Bodejo to provide two sureties in the like sum as part of the bail conditions.

The court directed that one of the sureties must be a resident of Abuja and present evidence of three years’ tax clearance, while the second surety must own landed property worth N2 billion within the Federal Capital Territory.
Justice Ekwo also ordered the defendant to surrender his international passport to the court registrar and barred him from travelling outside Nigeria without prior approval of the court.

In granting the application, the judge held that the offences against Bodejo are bailable and exercised the court’s discretion in his favour.
The matter was subsequently adjourned to October 5, 6 and 7, 2026, for the commencement of trial.

Bodejo was arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on charges bordering on alleged money laundering involving $2.63 million. He pleaded not guilty to all the counts.

The court had earlier, on July 9, ordered his remand in the custody of the EFCC pending the hearing of his bail application. During Monday’s proceedings, counsel to the defendant, Ahmed Raji (SAN), urged the court to grant bail, arguing that the offences are bailable under the Administration of Criminal Justice Act (ACJA).

The EFCC’s counsel, Wahab Shittu (SAN), opposed the application, but the court ruled in favour of the defendant and admitted him to bail pending trial.
