A Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, has fixed December 20, 2022, to hear a suit by the All Progressives Congress in the state challenging the Executive Orders 21 and 22 issued by the state government.

The Independent National Electoral Commission, the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike; all 23 local government chairmen in the state, and the Inspector General of Police are the defendants in the matter.

When the case resumed on Thursday, counsel to the APC, Collins Dike, informed the court that he had effected services on all the respondents but was yet to receive any response from them.

However, counsel to the police acknowledged receiving the service from the APC but asked for more time to enable him to respond to the court process.

His request was granted by the judge, Justice Emmanuel Obile.

The judge also adjourned the matter till December 20 for the hearing and the possible adoption of written addresses.

Speaking to journalists after the court proceedings, counsel to the APC said the executive orders by the state government are against the fundamental human rights of his client.
