Cristiano Ronaldo tells ‘King’ Pele to get better
Portugal captain, Cristiano Ronaldo, has sent an emotional message to football icon Pele that he ‘must get better.’
The former Manchester United forward said this following Portugal’s 6-1 win over Switzerland in the last-16 of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar on Tuesday night.
Ronaldo, who was dropped from Portugal’s starting XI for the game against Switzerland, sent a message of support for the Brazil legend, who is currently recovering in hospital, as he hoped for the 82-year-old’s quick recovery.
“Get better; get better for Pelé. Our King has to get better. That is all we want,” Ronaldo said (via UOL).
On Saturday, Pele was moved to end-of-life care at the Albert Einstein hospital in Sao Paulo after he stopped responding to chemotherapy.
