In the heart of Orile Agege, where the future of thousands of young souls is being shaped, stands a rare gem, a mother in a million, and an educationist per excellence – Dr (Mrs) Modupe Shofela.
She is not just a Principal; she is a mother, a moulder, a mentor, a counsellor, and a builder of destinies. To her students, she is fondly and reverently called “Iya Awon Omo Ologo” – The Mother of Glorious Children. And truly, she lives up to that name.
As the Principal of Lagos Baptist Senior Secondary School (LBSS), Orile Agege, Dr Shofela has redefined leadership and brought a breath of fresh air to the school community. Since assuming office, her commitment and devotion to the school and the children have remained top-notch, second to none.
A Counsellor with a Heart of Gold:
Dr Shofela sees every child as her own biological child. Her office is always open – not just for academic matters, but for counselling, guidance and motherly advice. Many wayward children have been reformed under her watch, many hopeless ones have found hope, and many timid ones have become bold and glorious.
She listens, she cares, she corrects in love, and she nurtures with passion.
An Educationist Par Excellence:
A seasoned educationist, administrator and a woman of high intellectual capacity, Dr (Mrs) Shofela combines discipline with compassion. She believes in excellence and will not compromise on good morals, decent dressing, hard work and academic brilliance.
Under her sterling leadership, LBSS Orile Agege has witnessed tremendous improvement in discipline, academic performance, and general conduct of students. Teachers attest to her transformational leadership style, while parents are full of praise for the positive changes they see in their wards.
Doing Wonders at LBSS:
Today, LBSS Orile Agege is wearing a new look – not just in structure, but in spirit. The atmosphere is peaceful, learning is conducive, and the children are happy. This is all thanks to the wonders Dr Shofela is doing.
She is a workaholic who resumes early and closes late. She monitors classes, inspects the environment, counsels students one-on-one, and ensures that every child is given a sense of belonging.
Indeed, Dr (Mrs) Modupe Shofela is a quintessential mother, a rare breed whose type is needed to fix our educational system.
