EPL: He’s Chelsea’s big problem – Arsenal legend slams Aubameyang

Arsenal legend, Ray Parlour, has slammed Chelsea’s struggling striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, insisting that the Gabonese star is not interested in playing football for the West London club.

Parlour believes Aubameyang is Chelsea’s big problem as the Blues lack a proper number nine in their squad since the departure of the club’s legend Didier Drogba many years ago.

He spoke following Chelsea’s Premier League 1-0 defeat to Manchester City at Stamford Bridge on Thursday night.

Aubameyang looked like a shadow of his former self as he struggled to make an impact, having been brought on after five minutes following an injury sustained by Raheem Sterling.

The 33-year-old suffered the ignominy of being hauled off midway through the second half and Parlour believes the former Arsenal captain didn’t make any runs during the tie.

“He just doesn’t look like he is interested. That is the big problem you have,” Parlour told talkSPORT.

“Since the likes of Drogba going back many years, Hasselbaink, players like that for Chelsea, proper number nines who have they had. Lukaku?

“Whether it’s the way they play and it’s not ideal for them, but certainly they are really struggling for a real goalscorer.

“I would look at a striker more for Chelsea (in terms of new signings). Aubameyang came on, he doesn’t look the same player for me, he doesn’t look like he is enjoying his football, he didn’t make any runs and wasn’t really in the game.”
