EPL: Lampard reveals why Arsenal are doing well this season

Frank Lampard has revealed why Arsenal are doing so well in Premier League this season.

Lampard said that Arsenal’s improvement did not just happen overnight but an outcome of massive investment.

Lampard joined Everton after he was sacked by Chelsea, taking over from Rafa Benitez 11 months ago.

Lampard managed to preserve the Toffees’ top flight status but the team have remained inconsistent this season and are currently in relegation zone.

Lampard could be sacked if Everton lose to Manchester United in the FA Cup tomorrow night but the former Chelsea midfielder and manager insists he has what it takes to turn things around at the club.

Indeed, Lampard pointed to the struggles Mikel Arteta encountered during his first two years at Arsenal before turning them into title challengers, albeit after spending over £300million on new players.

“Yes, I have what I perceive as improvement in the way we try to take the squad forward,” Lampard told the press on Thursday.

‘‘There’s not a story out there if you look at the most high performing team in the Premier League this year in Arsenal for being top of the league.

“If you look at their journey over the last three years you see how typically a journey can look,” Lampard said, insisting that the journey has never been easy for the gunners.

Before their 4-0 defeat to Brighton on Tuesday, the Toffees managed to hold Manchester City to a 1-1 draw in their previous outing.
