Femi Olaleye’s Absconding From Nigeria Will Not Prevent Justice – CAIDOV Boss, Soloki
The Executive Director of the Center Against Injustice and Domestic Violence (CAIDOV), Comrade Gbenga Soloki has responded to an alleged attempt by Dr Femi Olaleye, who is facing a rape allegation at the Supreme Court, to evade justice and distort the facts surrounding his conviction.
It will be recalled that Dr Femi Olaleye was sentenced to life imprisonment in 2023 by a Sexual Offences Court in Lagos on two counts of defilement and sexual violence against a minor.
However, in November 2024, the Court of Appeal overturned the conviction, acquitting him of all charges.
Dissatisfied with the ruling, the Lagos State Government proceeded to the Supreme Court to seek a reversal of the acquittal.
Dr Olaleye has since been alleged of sponsoring media campaign against his estranged wife after he was set free based on the Appeal Court judgement.
Comrade Soloki stated in a statement dated Wednesday February 26, 2025 that his organisation’s involvement in the case was not driven by attention-seeking, but by a commitment to justice for victims of domestic violence and abuse.
The activist stressed that they have been engaged in the matter since 2022, when the case was first heard by Justice Rahman Oshodi, who ultimately sentenced Dr. Olaleye to life imprisonment.
Soloki said that Dr. Olaleye’s departure from Nigeria in December 2024, “shortly after the state government filed an appeal at the Supreme Court, clearly amounts to fleeing from justice.”
He said that despite being aware of the impending appeal, Dr Olaleye left for the United Kingdom and later confirmed his relocation when served with legal documents via WhatsApp.
“It’s worth noting that multiple lawyers — including Dr. Kemi Pinheiro, Mr. Segun Fabunmi, and B.K. Ogala — withdrew from representing him after his conviction. That alone raises serious questions about his credibility.
“As a self-proclaimed cancer specialist, Dr. Olaleye claimed his patients would suffer due to his legal troubles. Yet, after absconding to the UK, he has not returned to care for those same patients, contradicting his claims of professional dedication.
“The assertion that Dr. Olaleye has abandoned his family is not false. Beyond his estranged wife’s children, he has also neglected his responsibilities to his children from a previous marriage with Folake.
“Evidence, including an email to his first son admitting this abandonment, exists and will be presented when necessary,” he said.
He added that Dr. Olaleye’s alleged contradictory claims regarding his family home only added to the confusion he creates.
According to him, despite accusing his estranged wife of attempting to sell his property, he has also called it their “family home” — the same property he unlawfully accessed by jumping its fence.
“Moreover, his recent media campaign against his estranged wife, featuring nearly identical reports from multiple sources, bears his unmistakable influence. Those following the case closely will recognise the truth as it unfolds.
“Dr. Olaleye’s repeated dishonesty speaks volumes about his integrity.
“Under oath in court, he denied ever checking into a rehabilitation center for sex addiction. Yet, in a later written article, he admitted to seeking treatment at Dr. Peter Nubi’s Grace Cottage Clinic — an admission that directly contradicts his earlier testimony,” the statement read.
The activist stated that their goal remains justice for the survivor of Dr. Olaleye’s alleged crime.
He added that it is essential that individuals like him face the full consequences of their actions, and that society must remain vigilant in holding such individuals accountable.
“Should the court fail the survivor, it will reflect a failure of the system — not a lack of truth.
“Finally, for those defending Dr. Olaleye, may they never experience the pain and trauma inflicted on the innocent child he harmed,” he said.
