FG targets 11,500 CNG-enabled vehicles, approves presidential initiative

The federal government approved the establishment of the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative, PCNGI.

Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser, to the President on Media and Publicity, disclosed this in a statement on Friday, noting that the Initiative aimed to achieve 11,500 CNG-enabled vehicles nationwide.

It also announced that the Initiative would provide 55,000 CNG conversion kits for existing PMS-dependent vehicles.

He added that the government would consider bolstering in-country manufacturing, local assembly and expansive job creation in line with the presidential directive.

“President Ahmed Bola Tinubu’s focus on assembling CNG-enabled vehicles within the country will stimulate economic growth, create employment opportunities, and bolster the nation’s automotive manufacturing capabilities,” he stated.
