It was another eventful weekend in the highly competitive Nigeria Premier Football League.

Enyimba bounce back in style

The eight-time champions were winless in four league games heading into Sunday’s home clash against Plateau United. They were however able to stop the rot, coming out 2-1 winners against the Peace Boys

The win put the Aba giants back in the mix for a Super Six spot and Finidi George’s side will certainly fight hard to pick a slot with five games now remaining in the regular season.

South West derby lived up to expectations

All eyes were on the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan, on Sunday, for the South West derby between Shooting Stars and Remo Stars.

The game no doubt lived up to the hype as both teams treated the fans to a sumptuous meal of football.

The encounter ended in a 1-1 draw, with Remo Stars maintaining their unbeaten streak in the league against Shooting Stars.

Bendel Insurance losing steam

Monday Odigie’s side remain unbeaten in the Nigeria Premier Football League this season but are certainly struggling at the moment.

The Benin Arsenals held Kwara United to a 1-1 draw at home on Saturday, their fourth consecutive stalemate.

Insurance are yet to record a win in the second stanza and have seen their lead reduced to four points.

Bayelsa United braced the odds in Bauchi

Newcomers Bayelsa United recorded the only away win on matchday 13. It was a tough evening for the Restoration Boys as they battled intimidation from the home fans to secure maximum points in the game.

Diepreye Teibowei’s side also moved out of the relegation zone following the win.

Obioma back on target, Mizo joins the mix

Enyimba’s Chukwuemeka Obioma scored his 10th league goal of the season in his side’s 2-1 win against Plateau United. The well-built forward was caged in the previous game against Akwa United but is back on the goal trail again.

Robert Mizo kept pressure on Obioma as he moved up to eight goals after scoring one in Bayelsa United’s 2-1 at Wikki Tourists on Sunday.
