FMDQ Foreign Exchange Market Analysis Report for Week-Ended August 7, 2026
Kindly see commentary below on the Foreign Exchange (FX) market with data for the week-ended August 7, 2026. Table 1 compares weekly turnover for trades between banks (FMDQ Dealing Member (Banks)/Authorised Dealers) and their clients for the weeks-ended July 31 and August 7, 2026.
In the FX Spot and Derivatives markets, the total turnover for the week-ended August 7, 2026, was $3,729.44 million, representing an increase of 116.98% ($2,010.67 million) from the $1,718.77 million reported for the week-ended July 31, 2026. The week-on-week (WoW) increase in total turnover was jointly driven by the 117.32% ($1,999.84 million) increase in FX Spot transactions, which recorded a total value of $3,704.44 million compared to $1,704.60 million in the week-ended July 31, 2026, and the 76.43% ($10.83 million) increase in FX Derivatives transactions for the week-ended August 7, 2026 (See Table 1)
The WoW increase in FX Derivatives turnover was driven by the $76.43 ($10.83 million) increase in FX Forwards turnover
