FMDQ Group Wraps Up 2026 FMDQ-Next Summer Camp Programme, Inspiring the Next Generation of Financial Market Leaders

FMDQ Group PLC (“FMDQ Group”), through its flagship corporate social responsibility initiative, the FMDQ Next Generation Financial Markets Empowerment Programme (“FMDQ-Next”), has successfully concluded the 7th edition of its FMDQ-Next Summer Camp Programme (“the Programme”), reinforcing its commitment to equipping young Nigerians with the knowledge, skills, and exposure required to make informed financial decisions. Held at FMDQ Group’s business complex, Exchange Place, Lagos, in August 2026, the Programme welcomed primary and secondary school students to an engaging educational experience designed to introduce them to the fundamentals of financial markets.

The fully funded 2026 Summer Camp Programme brought together one hundred and thirty (130) students from diverse backgrounds across two (2) streams. Through a blend of interactive lessons, practical activities, and collaborative exercises, participants explored key financial market concepts, including savings, investments, financial instruments, and the roles of various market participants. The Programme was designed to make financial market concepts accessible and engaging, encouraging students to ask questions, explore new ideas, and build confidence in their understanding of the financial system. Participants also toured Exchange Place, including the FMDQ Archives, and engaged with members of FMDQ Group’s executive team, gaining valuable perspectives on careers in the financial markets and opportunities within the industry.

A key highlight of the Programme was the secondary school students’ participation in trading exercises using FMDQ-Next’s state-of-the-art trading simulation platform. Through the interactive platform, students were able to navigate simulated market conditions, execute trades, and evaluate different strategies, providing them with a practical introduction to the dynamics of the financial markets. At the conclusion of the Programme, the top three (3) finalists in each stream were recognised for their exceptional performance and rewarded with exciting prizes, including the opportunity for an internship at FMDQ Group. The primary school student participants were also generously celebrated, with the best three (3) students in each stream, selected based on their performances on quizzes during the Programme, awarded prizes for their outstanding efforts.

Parents/guardians and participants alike shared positive feedback on their experiences, highlighting the value of the Programme’s curriculum, practical learning opportunities, and engaging activities. Parents noted the impact of the financial education their children received, while students reflected on the knowledge gained, friendships formed, and memorable experiences created throughout the Programme. Mrs. Tosin Oyekan, who registered her son for the Programme, remarked, “I wanted to give my son the opportunity to learn about the markets and finance at an early age. It is something that we did not have the opportunity to experience when we were younger. Thank you so much for this opportunity and I hope other organisations also give children the chance to benefit from their offerings.”

I also enjoyed the activities and made many new friends along the way. Thank you, FMDQ-Next, for such a fun and wonderful learning experience!”

Commenting on the Programme, Ms. Tumi Sekoni, Group Chief Operating Officer, FMDQ Group, said, “We are pleased to have once again provided young minds with an engaging platform to learn about financial markets and develop practical knowledge that will support their financial journeys. The enthusiasm and curiosity demonstrated by the students throughout the Programme have been truly commendable.
