Fuel price: NLC/TUC against subsidy removal – Ushie

The Nigeria Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress have frowned at the statement credited to the presidential candidate of All Progressives Congress, Bola Ahmed Tinubu that if elected president of Nigeria next year, he would not subsidise the cost of petroleum products anymore.

Speaking for NLC/TUC, former Chairman of NLC in Cross River State, John Ushie said the union’s insistence against subsidy removal is constant.

He spoke in Calabar during the Labour Party campaign, saying, “We are completely against the removal of fuel subsidy.

“It is very wrong for any government to even contemplate it.

“Let the government fix all the nation’s refineries first of all before they can begin to think about subsidy removal. Let the government think towards refining our crude oil locally.”

Also, phone-in callers over Sparkling FM radio in Calabar equally blamed Tinubu, reminding him that when Dr Goodluck Jonathan he had campaigned against subsidy removal.
