— Commends the HBMSL Consortium Group for the timely job well-done

— Expresses optimism that the Group live up to its billing, for they have been tested and proven, have chains of businesses and have their foundation on God

The Governor of Cross River State, Professor Benedict Ayade, earlier today, Thursday, May 25, 2023, commissioned the Cala Chika, a frozen chicken factory which processes 24,000 birds per day, the feed-mill factory and the instant noodles factory which is one of the biggest noodles factories in Nigeria, which he described as people-oriented project.

Ayade who has consistently maintained that the key trust of his administration is the rapid industrialization of the State as well as building of socioeconomic Infrastructural projects, commend the HBMSL Consortium Group for the timely job well-done.

His words: “When we assumed the rein of leadership of our dear State, our administration launched an economic roadmap as a way of encouraging investments in various sectors of the economy, particularly agriculture.

“In our agricultural revolution effort, the state opted for the concessioning of industries our administration built across the state to ensure that they remain state’s assets, thereby signing a concession agreement with HBMSL Group.

“According to the terms of the agreement, HBMSL is to assume management of the industries and ensure that products from the industries are rolled out within three months, because sometime ago, we did a referendum on whether the government should run this industry as government or privatize and the generality of the opinion was that government assets should remain government assets as privatization has not brought about any benefits so far.

“The optimism I expressed sometimes ago, that as a tested and proven consortium, HBMSL will live up to its billing, because with the Group, we have got the right people that God has put on our path. They have been tested and proven, have chains of businesses and have their foundation on God, and today, the Group prove us right, that they are a group with good conscience”, Ayade said.

The representative of the HBMSL Group, Ambassador Omodele Adebola, while emphasizing the significance of the industrialization policy of Ayade’s administration, said: “That we are gathered here today is no doubt a determination woven through to precision and a glowing testament to the fact that the industrialization policy is working.

The business tycoon who lauded Ayade for the giant stride and for keying into the agricultural revolution policy, further noted that the factories spoke loudly about the Governor’s administration strides in Agriculture, adding that its capacity to processes huge numbers of birds, animal feeds and instant noodles per day, will aid in job creation and earn revenue for the State.

“With Governor Ayade’s other investments in agriculture such as the construction of ultramodern rice mill in Ogoja, the cotton farm in Yala, the cocoa processing plant in Ikom and the Banana plantation in Odukpani among others, it’s clear that Cross River has found a pathway to decouple itself from over reliance on federal allocation.

“It is evident also that by conceiving projects such as this, Governor Ayade has a keen eye for tomorrow; focusing on projects that are building a new economic base for the State rather than projects with short term benefits for the purpose of making cheap political gains.

“Once again , I commend Governor Ayade for this laudable initiative as our country makes steady and assured progress towards self-sufficiency in food production”, he maintained.
