Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State has signed the budget for the 2023 fiscal year into law.
He assented to the budget of N175 billion on Friday following its passage earlier in the month by the Adamawa State House of Assembly.
The event, at Government House, Yola, was attended by the deputy governor, Chief Crowther Seth and deputy speaker of the Assembly, Pwamakeino Mackondo.
Fintiri on November 25 presented the appropriation bill of the same amount for the 2023 fiscal year to the state House of Assembly which worked on it, without any significant change, and passed it, on December 21, sending it back to the governor for his assent.
N105 billion of the budget representing 60% is earmarked for recurrent expenditure while N70 billion, representing 40%, is for capital expenditure.
The budget, tagged “Budget of Consolidation” is targeted mainly at completing all ongoing projects and starting some fresh ones, including the construction of a super highway from Yola entrance gate, along the Yola-Numan Road, to Yola town through Yolde-Pate, the government said.
