Chief Medical Director of Abiodun Falade Hospitals, Dr. Abiodun Falade has opened up on how his late dad, Dr. Olusegun Adeniyi Falade inspired and taught him basics of the medical profession particularly as it relates to surgery as an undergraduate of the medical school.

According to him, his late dad diligently combined his medical profession as a gynaecologist of repute, philanthropist and clergy.

Falade revealed this last week in a tribute to the older Falade shortly after his burial at their family house in Osogbo, the Osun State capital.

The late Dr Falade passed on in January 24 at the age of 67 years. He was buried on March 24.

“My late father was a renowned gynaecologist, philanthropist and servant of God who lived his life helping people and touching lives in every way he can.

“His ways inspired me from childhood to choose this profession and he was my role model and the greatest surgeon I know,” the younger Falade said in an emotion-laden tribute.

Falade explained further that his expertise in gynaecological surgeries today was courtesy of his late dad’s early influence and willingness to pour out all he knows without asking. He also mentioned assisting his late dad with major gynaecological surgeries even as a medical student.

Checks by Newsclickng.com revealed that in just two years of operation, the Abiodun Falade Hospital/Foundation successfully carried out over 400 fibroid surgeries on patients. The Lekki (Lagos) and Ibadan (Oyo) based hospital handled 228 fibroid surgeries in 2021 alone.

“Many people come to see me and wonder how this young doctor does all these surgeries. Some even stylishly ask me my age during consultations finding it hard to believe I can be the Dr Falade they heard about.

“You will be surprised that I have been assisting my father with major gynaecological surgeries even as a medical student and this man (his late dad) taught me all the secrets and pitfalls in surgeries even before I graduated as a doctor. He taught me all he knows and I am happy I made him proud.”

Aside from taking him through rudiments of the profession, Dr Falade said his late dad also instilled in him and his siblings core moral values and made them access quality education.

“My late dad showed us how to live for others, how to be compassionate and to live upright. He wasn’t the richest man on earth but he gave all his children the best education and ensured we all achieved good things with our lives.”
