The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Lagos State House of Assembly, Agege Constituency I, Oluwagbenga Michael “Agbelebu”, has reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to servant leadership following his emergence as the party’s flag bearer, declaring that the mandate entrusted to him is a call to greater responsibility, humility, and dedicated service to the people.

In his first major statement after the primary election, Agbelebu expressed profound appreciation to party leaders, delegates, stakeholders, supporters, and residents, describing their confidence in him as both an honour and a sacred responsibility.

«”I remain deeply grateful to the people. This victory is not mine alone; it belongs to every leader who believed in me, every delegate who entrusted me with their vote, every supporter who stood firmly by me, and every resident who desires a better future for our constituency. I receive this mandate with humility and a solemn commitment to serve faithfully.”»

He noted that the outcome of the primary election was not merely a political victory but a reaffirmation of the people’s desire for responsive, inclusive, and people-centred representation.

According to Agbelebu, leadership must always be defined by integrity, accountability, accessibility, and an unwavering commitment to improving the lives of the people.

Addressing public conversations following the primary election, Agbelebu appealed for restraint and maturity, urging those promoting narratives of betrayal to embrace the broader purpose of politics.

«”To those who continue to peddle the narrative of betrayal, I respectfully urge them to sheath their words and reflect on the true essence of politics. Politics is about service, interests, alignment, and the collective aspirations of the people. It is not about individuals; it is about the common good. Our ultimate responsibility is to render genuine service to humanity and improve the lives of the residents we have been called to serve.”»

He emphasized that while differing opinions are natural in every democratic process, unity after competition is the hallmark of a progressive political family.

«”The primary election is over. Now is the time to unite. There is no victor and no vanquished in our collective pursuit of a better Agege. I extend my hand of fellowship to every aspirant, every supporter, and every stakeholder. Together, we will build a stronger APC and secure an even brighter future for our constituency.”»

Agbelebu reaffirmed his commitment to championing legislative initiatives that address the everyday needs of the constituency, particularly in youth empowerment, quality education, healthcare, economic development, security, and social welfare.

He added that his representation would be rooted in continuous consultation with constituents, ensuring that every policy position and legislative intervention reflects the genuine needs and aspirations of the people.

The APC candidate also acknowledged the invaluable guidance of party elders, leaders, community stakeholders, women groups, youth organisations, and grassroots mobilisers whose encouragement, he said, strengthened his resolve to serve with excellence.

As preparations begin for the general election, Agbelebu called on residents of Agege Constituency I to remain united, peaceful, and hopeful, stressing that sustainable development can only be achieved through collective responsibility and inclusive leadership.

«”This mandate is a covenant of trust between me and the people. By the grace of God, I will justify that trust through humble leadership, dedicated representation, and selfless service. My greatest ambition is not to occupy an office, but to leave behind a legacy of impact, compassion, and meaningful progress for every community in Agege Constituency I.”»
