JUST IN: APC Is Now a Threat to Me in Rivers State — FCT Minister, Wike Cries Out

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has raised the alarm over what he described as growing hostility and threats against him by members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State.

Wike, a former Governor of Rivers State and a key political figure in the state, made the allegation while addressing journalists on Monday, expressing concern over the deteriorating political climate and what he called deliberate attempts to intimidate and silence him.

According to the FCT Minister, his recent political stance and cooperation with the APC-led Federal Government have made him a target of attacks, harassment, and coordinated hostility by some APC elements within Rivers State.

“Let me say it clearly: the APC has now become a threat to me in Rivers State. The level of intimidation and political hostility I am facing is alarming,” Wike stated.

He accused certain APC leaders in the state of plotting to undermine his influence and provoke violence, warning that such actions could destabilise Rivers State if not checked.

Wike, who has remained a controversial yet influential figure since the 2023 general elections, stressed that he would not be intimidated, insisting that he remains committed to his political beliefs and responsibilities as a minister of the Federal Government.

The former governor also called on security agencies to be alert and proactive, urging them to ensure that Rivers State does not descend into political violence due to what he described as reckless actions by desperate politicians.

Political observers believe Wike’s outburst may be connected to the ongoing power struggle and realignments ahead of future elections in Rivers State, where tensions between political blocs have continued to rise.

As of the time of filing this report, the Rivers State chapter of the APC has yet to officially respond to Wike’s allegations.
