#JusticeForMalik: NANS Reacts To Death Of Student In School Clinic, Makes Three Demands To Ogun Govt

The leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Southwest has reacted to the death of ND I Computer Engineering student ofOgun State Institute of Technology (OGITECH), Igbesa, Yusuf Malik Omoty, who was reportedly to have died in the institution’s clinic.

AMILOADED gathered that the deceased died in the school clinic where he was rushed to following a motorcycle accident on Monday.

It was gathered the accident occurred in front of the institution owing to over speeding by the commercial motorcyclist.

According to witnesses, the deceased was rushed to the school clinic but was not treated.

His friends were raising money for ambulance to take him to an hospital when he died in the clinic, it was learnt.

Reacting to the incident, the Coordinator of NANS Southwest, Comrade Kappo Olawale in a statement signed by him on Wednesday commiserate with the family, friends and colleagues of the deceased.

“It is with a heavy heart and great dismay we write to the unexpected death of an ND 1 student of Ogun State Institute of Technology, Igbesa (OGITECH) who was hit by a reckless motorcyclist at the entrance of the Polytechnic during the early hours of Tuesday, 3rd of November, 2020.

“The teeming leadership of Nigerian students in Southwest ably led by Comrade Kappo Olawale Samuel join thousands of students of OGITECH to commiserate with the family, friends and colleagues of the deceased and we pray to the Lord of Á luta grant him the best of paradise. May he give us all the fortitude to bear the loss. We pray that such saddening event never repeats itself again in our midst.

“YUSUF MALIK, a student of the Computer Engineering Department of the institution, died on the sole cause of the fact that the institution clinic does not give proper medical attention to the deceased before he died after the fatal accident,” he said.

The Coordinator demanded that Ogun state government to as a a matter of urgency provide adequate medical equipments and an advance health care system in all the state owned tertiary institutions and also provide good and motorable road in the institutions environment.

He stressed further that the motorcyclist who allegedly killed the student should be prosecuted and punished accordingly under the law of the federation

“We urge the Ogun state government to as a a matter of urgency provide adequate medical equipments and an advance health care system in all the state owned tertiary institutions and also provide good and motorable road in the institutions environment.

“#JusticeForMalik is also a demand Nigerian Students in Southwest Geopolitical Zone are demanding for, before we mobilize all armless battalion Nigerian Students in the Zone to make a forceful demand. The motorcyclist who killed our member should be prosecuted and punished accordingly under the law of the federation,” he said.
