La Liga striker vows never to play for Spain again over Rubiales

Real Betis star Borja Iglesias has vowed never to play for Spain again following Spanish FA President Luis Rubiales’ refusal to step aside.

The FA chief was expected to resign from his position on Friday, but he decided otherwise.

Many organisations and individuals have called for Rubiales’ resignation after he grabbed and forcefully kissed Spanish forward Jenni Hermoso during the medal presentation after Spain’s win over England last Sunday.

The 46-year-old official has declined to step down from his post.

Iglesias, while reacting to Rubiales’ attitude, wrote on Instagram: “I am sad and disappointed. I don’t feel represented by what happened today (Rubiales’ refusal to resign). I have made the decision not to return to the National Team until things change and this type of act does not go unpunished.”
