LaLiga: It hurts more than blows – Villarreal’s Baema on death threats after Valverde’s punch
Villarreal’s Alex Baena has revealed how his life has been under threat following his fallout with Real Madrid midfielder, Fede Valverde.
The Real Madrid midfielder punched his Villarreal counterpart in the bus parking area after the Yellow Submarines defeated Real Madrid, 3-2 in La Liga on Saturday night.
Sources in Spain said that Baena made ill remarks about the Real Madrid midfielder’s unborn son during Real Madrid and Villarreal’s Copa del Rey clash back in January.
The Uruguayan and her partner were then dealing with a miscarriage scare. And Baena was said to have repeated a similar slur in Saturday’s La Liga clash, which provoked Valverde.
Baena, however, has denied making such comments, adding that he has received death threats over the last few days.
The Spanish player noted that he was assaulted by Valverde for an offence he did not commit
“No evidence has been published to prove the allegations made against me,” he added. “And there are lies that hurt more than blows.
“The damage that is being done to my family is irreparable and unjustifiable: threats, insults and even private messages with death threats. [On Sunday] I filed a complaint with the police. Let justice do its job.”
