Man commits suicide in Kogi

A yet-to-be-identified man has committed suicide in Kogi State.

The incident happened at about 12:30 pm on Tuesday at Meme Bridge, a few metres from the popular Dunamis Church in Lokoja.

The deceased, a tricycle rider, was said to have arrived at the bridge, parked his tricycle, and jumped into the river.

An anonymous witness told DAILY POST that they were helpless to prevent the man from committing suicide.

“There was nothing anybody could do when the Keke Man jumped into the river. When he jumped, we saw a snake, and there was nothing anyone could do at that moment,” he said.

The corpse has yet to be recovered as of the time of filing this report.

The Kogi State Police Command Public Relations Officer, SP William Ovye Aya, confirmed the incident to DAILY POST on Tuesday.

” We are yet to get details of the incident. Our officers have been mobilised to recover the body of the deceased. As soon as we get details, our unit will issue details of the sad incident,” he stated.
