MASSOB tackles Simeon Ekpa over sit-at-home order in S-East

The Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State Of Biafra, MASSOB, on Wednesday, threatened a clampdown on Simeon Ekpa for allegedly issuing a five-day sit-at-home order in the South East region.

Ekpa, a factional leader of IPOB had issued the order as the people of the region, who are predominantly Christians, prepare to celebrate Christmas, the birth of Christ.

The leadership of MASSOB alleged that the five-day sit-at-home directive by the IPOB factional leader is capable of causing war in the region.

MASSOB in a statement made available to newsmen in Abakaliki and signed by its National Director of Information, Comrade Edeson Samuel, condemned in totality the unwarranted sit-at-home declared by Ekpa.

The statement reads in part: “It is very unfortunate that some people have allowed themselves to be used by agents of the Nigerian government to turn South East into a war zone.

“How can someone who claimed to be fighting for the freedom of his people at the same time turn around, kill and destroy the economy of the same people he is fighting for?

“A lot of innocent Biafran youths have been killed by Nigerian security agents, many are still in various prisons in Nigeria, and now you are adding more pain and suffering to our people. This is no longer agitation for the liberation of [the] Biafra people.”

MASSOB threatened to clamp down on any person that would cause war in the South East, saying,

“we will not support anybody who lives outside Biafraland and be given order and counter-order that will affect the life of Ndigbo negatively.”

The group urged Ndigbo to ignore the threat issued by Simeon Ekpa and go about their normal business.

“It is clear that the main aim of these people ordering sit-at-home is nothing but to create crises in South East, giving Nigeria government reasons not to release Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

“These agents of [the] Nigerian government must stop these evil acts against Ndigbo now.

MASSOB and other Biafra agitators will not allow faceless people paid by Nigeria government to destroy all the pro-Biafra groups has laboured for years,” the group stated.
