Mikel Obi’s former agent breaks silence on offering Siasia €50,000 bribe

John Shittu, the former agent of ex-Super Eagles midfielder, John Mikel Obi, has hit back at allegations made against him by former Nigeria U23 coach, Samson Siasia.

Siasia had claimed that Shittu offered him €50,000 to take Mikel Obi to the 2008 Olympics, despite the player not taking part in the qualifiers.

“Going to the Olympics, Mikel wanted to come and play. His agent said he would give me €50,000 to include him,” he said.

According to Siasia, he rejected the offer and excluded Mikel Obi from this squad, that went on to win a silver medal.

Shittu, speaking with The Cable, revealed that Siasia had since called him to apologise over the comments.

“I am one of the most respected agents in the game,” Shittu said.

“I don’t engage myself with damaged or inconsequential people.”
