NCS Commissions Rehabilitated Healthcare Centre in Modakeke, Osun
The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has commissioned a rehabilitated healthcare centre in Modakeke, Osun State, as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives aimed at improving access to basic healthcare and supporting sustainable community development.
The facility was commissioned on Saturday, 24 October 2026, on behalf of the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, fnipr, dsm, psc+, PhD, by the Acting Customs Area Controller, Oyo/Osun Area Command, Deputy Comptroller of Customs Wale Moses Adewole.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, the Comptroller-General, through his representative, stressed the importance of accessible and quality healthcare, particularly in communities where residents face challenges accessing essential medical services.
He said the rehabilitation of the facility demonstrates the Service’s commitment to complementing government efforts to strengthen public health infrastructure and improve the quality of life of Nigerians.
According to him, the responsibilities of the Nigeria Customs Service go beyond revenue generation, trade facilitation and the suppression of smuggling, extending to meaningful interventions that contribute to the social and economic development of communities where the Service operates.
The CGC urged residents of Modakeke to take ownership of the facility, protect its infrastructure and use it responsibly to ensure that the intervention continues to benefit both present and future generations.
The Ogunsua of Modakeke, represented by a member of the Modakeke Traditional Council, Chief Folorunsho Awoyomi, expressed appreciation to the Comptroller-General and the Nigeria Customs Service for the intervention.
He described the rehabilitation of the healthcare centre as a welcome development that would positively impact the health and well-being of residents, while stressing the importance of partnerships between government institutions and host communities in addressing critical local needs.
Members of the community also commended the Nigeria Customs Service, noting that the rehabilitated facility would bring essential healthcare services closer to residents and reduce some of the difficulties associated with accessing basic medical care.
They, however, called for effective management and regular maintenance of the facility to ensure its sustainability and continued benefit to the community.
The commissioning further underscores the Nigeria Customs Service’s commitment to strengthening its relationship with host communities through impactful CSR interventions, while supporting broader efforts to improve healthcare delivery and promote sustainable development.
