NDLEA: Why CDQ was arrested, still under investigation

The Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) says it arrested CDQ, Nigerian rapper, over alleged possession of cannabis at his Lagos home.

According to PUNCH, Femi Babafemi, NDLEA’s director of media and advocacy, said the musician was arrested at his Lekki residence on Wednesday following an intelligence report.
The agency’s spokesperson disclosed that the rapper had already been granted bail.

He, however, said CDQ is still under investigation, noting that the outcome of the probe would determine if he would be charged to court or not.

“Yes, CDQ was arrested in his house at Lekki for being in possession of cannabis. He was arrested based on intelligence. As of last night, he was granted administrative bail, but he is expected back into custody today because it is an ongoing investigation,” Babafemi said.
He added that the ‘Vaseline‘ crooner also revealed the names of other artistes who allegedly used the substance, noting that he cooperated with officials of the agency during the arrest.

“Some substances were found and he mentioned some names of some other big artistes. So, it is an ongoing investigation,” NDLEA’s spokesperson said.

“The outcome of the investigation would determine what would happen. There are cases whereby the investigation shows some sufficient infractions, and then the case will go to court.”

“There are other cases whereby if the quantity is insignificant, we will bring him in for counselling and possible rehabilitation. Those are likely scenarios that will happen.”
CDQ, whose real name is Sodiq Yusuf, also took to his social media pages to allege attempts by some individuals to set him up.
