Nestlé Professional’s Business of Food Workshop: Transforming Food Vending in Nigeria

Nestlé Professional, the Out of Home business arm of Nestlé Nigeria, has taken its Business of Food workshop to Sokoto, marking the 8th edition of its empowerment program. Since inception, the initiative has transformed over 1,900 food businesses across seven states, equipping them with essential skills and knowledge to enhance their businesses and increase income.
Supporting the Backbone of Nigeria’s Food Industry
Canteens, grillers, Maishais, and bukas play a vital role in serving low-income communities in Nigeria, making them one of the fastest-growing sectors catering to Nigerian consumers. However, these food vendors often lack necessary support to thrive. Nestlé Professional’s program addresses this gap, providing training on:
- Culinary techniques
- Menu planning
- Customer engagement
- Good hygiene practices
Expert Insights, Local Flavor
The Sokoto workshop featured a masterclass by Chef Faridah on preparing Masa and Miyan Duka, a traditional northern Nigerian dish. A cooking competition also took place, where teams competed to create the best jollof spaghetti.
