Postmaster General (PMG) of the federation and CEO of the Nigerian Postal Service, NIPOST, Sunday Adepopu, disclosed this during the unveiling ceremony on Saturday in Abuja.
Adepopu, represented by NIPOST Director of Planning and Development, Dr Thomas Gaja, explained that globally, postage stamps are regarded as one of the most effective means to supply information about a country’s history.
“This Initiative was embarked upon to support the Pan African Postal Union, PAPU with funds to complete its 17-storey Tower project and also Philately stamps to earn revenue for the Organization.
“NIPOST, in conjunction with all PAPU member states, today(Saturday), will release a single Postage Stamp in (N250) denomination to mark the commissioning of the PAPU Tower, Arusha, Tanzania. The stamp has a surcharge of value N5.00,” he stated.
