Over 2,000 criminals prosecuted within two years in Ondo – Amotekun

The Ondo State Security Network Agency, known as Amotekun Corps, has disclosed that it has achieved a significant milestone in the fight against crime in the state.

According to the corps, since its establishment in the last two years, it has prosecuted over 2,000 criminals

The Commander of Amotekun, who revealed this in Akure, the state capital, stated that the security agency had also obtained more than 1,500 judgements within the period.

Adeleye maintained that the figures, which he described as impressive, highlight the effectiveness of Amotekun in combating criminal activities and ensuring justice is served.

He further explained that the establishment of an Amotekun court was necessitated by the overwhelming number of criminal cases in the state, which had placed a burden on the judiciary.

The Amotekun boss stressed that the Amotekun court was established to provide support and alleviate the strain on the judiciary, which had struggled to keep up with the increasing workload.

He said, “In the last two years, we have prosecuted over 2,000 criminals and secured judgements in favour of the government for no less than 1,500 criminal charges.”

Adeleye also stated that the state government has approved the siting of security posts along the waterline in the Arimogija axis in the Ose Local Council of the state and in the Akoko axis.
